Marken is a picturesque village known for its typical wooden houses, traditional Dutch culture, and scenic views of the IJsselmeer lake. Once an island, it is now connected to the mainland by a causeway, making it a popular tourist destination for its historical atmosphere and serene landscape. It’s also a great spot for photography.
On a summer evening with no plans and no responsibilities to fulfill, I spontaneously decided to hop on the bus and head to Marken for a sunset photo session. As I arrived, I was immediately greeted by the quietness and tranquil atmosphere, as if time stood still in this place. The sun was already quite low, giving off a soft light and wrapping the landscape in golden hues.
Having already learned the hard way that Captain Click’s exposure meter was not functioning correctlyj, I decided to use a light meter app on my phone, creatively named LightMeter. With decent film, Captain Click, lessons learned, beautiful light, and a lot of enthusiasm, I had everything in my favor for going home with some great shots. And by no means did they disappoint.
